Hi Jennifer, I'm so glad to have found my way to your colourful and intriguing worlds through your visit to my Substack! :) I'm a huge lover of colour and I really love all the colour and contemplative whimsicality in your art. The third world you shared in this post reminds me of Miro, who is one of my favourite artists. I also really resonate with your reflections on your creative process and journey as an artist. Your art, writing and insights are truly such a breath of fresh air in a world crowded with sameness (that you mentioned, and that I also feel a lot). Thank you for sharing your art and ideas. I'm so looking forward to reading and seeing more of your art!
Hi Suyin, thank you so much for your lovely comment! I am so happy to hear that my work resonates with you. It is encouraging me to come back to this newsletter which I've been woefully neglecting.
The inspiration for this work was actually an exhibition on Kandisky that I saw a couple of years ago (as well as, in a completely other direction, the cartoon series Bee and Puppycat), but I can see also see the Miro connection (an artist I'd definitely like to learn more about!) I've continued to explore this "new world" theme throughout these past two years - hopefully I will post about this soon.
Oh I love Kandinsky too and I was so interested to check out Bee and Puppycat, since I hadn’t heard of that before. I’m so glad to hear you’re encouraged to come back to this, as I’m very curious and excited to read more about your explorations of this theme over the past two years!
